A couple of weeks ago, BRIGHTON CREATIVES were asked to feature on the BBC’s iWonder website! Jen went up to BBC Radio One and did an interview for their website. It’s up now!

You can listen to the interview here (or click the image below), then scroll down to the ‘Clickable: four dream jobs’ section. Ours is the picture of the illustration! Featuring some work we did for By The Level and DrDr!

“Artist Jen Bentley combines illustration and coding skills to craft bespoke websites for designers, musicians and other creative people. Watch the 60 second video above to find out how a basic knowledge of code helped Jen find a niche as a boutique website production house.

Computing has expanded the range of career options available to illustrators. Artists are no longer confined to selling prints and showing their work in exhibitions. By learning to code, they can build their own online showcase or use their creative flair to launch digital businesses, like graphic and web design.

Jen learnt to code in HTML at college before teaching herself some PHP – two languages used to develop web pages. Combined with website builder WordPress, she can now publish bespoke hand-drawn web pages.”

Emilie and Jen were very proud to take part.
