“I was taught to screenprint by Jane Sampson, the fairy godmother of screnprinting. I was enrolled at University of Brighton and learned to screenprint during a particularly dark time of my life. For me, printing gave me joy, hope, an imagined future. I print then, like I do now, with an interest in perfecting my craft through focus but also a healthy plunge into the unknown. Experimentation, like the time I screen-printed with my own blood or added a secret glow-in-the-dark print, ‘Earthlings’.
I teach and print my own work at Ink Spot Press (which just moved from Lewes Road to near Hove Station). My first solo show was at the Artist Residence, and now you can stay at the ‘Pharmacy of Dreams’ room, decorated with bespoke wallpaper and screen prints onto the actual walls.
I sell my prints through Saatchi, Art Republic and Brush as well as directly: www.foxicorn.com” – Fox Fisher
