We’d like to introduce you to I.O.T ART – Jason McQuillen. A rare breed being Brighton born and bred. He’s a self taught artist/illustrator/doodler and “marker for hire”.
Jason takes his pens and paints to anything big or small. Whether that be an old keg, used as a seat in St. James’s street Bar/Cafe Neighbourhood. An entire wall at Riki Tiks. The stairs at the Hop Poles. If you frequent any of the watering holes of Brighton, keep an eye out for his work.
He recently won an art competition, coming 1st out of 16 artists painting toilet cubicles at Wahoo, a Brighton bar. Personally I think his entry was incredible and a deserving winner.
Jason explains that his inspiration “definitely comes from being in Brighton, it’s an awesome city with curious people and a great street art/graffiti scene, loads of local artists like Sinna, One Snub and Pinky. I also get inspiration from artists like Kid Acne and McBess, as well as Japanese culture and cartoons and the sticker scene.”
“Being able to see my imagination appear in front of me is a amazing outlet, and inspires me to think bigger and push my own boundaries. Brighton is great place to be seeing art and the city becomes more colorful every day, feeling like I could be apart of that, is awesome.” – Jason
We love Jasons doodles/murals. His imagination literally explodes all over page/wall/keg/skateboard/snowboard etc etc…keep an eye out for his work around the beautiful city of Brighton.
