We decided to feature the beautiful and talented Holly Christian in our blog today. Holly is Brighton based has always had a love of taxidermy, inheriting the interest from her parents, but only thought about it seriously during her final year project of her Interior Architecture degree. Always one for doing something a little conceptually quirky she designed a space housing taxidermists and through research for the project, discovered she was more interested than she’d originally bargained for. After completing her degree Holly decided to give it a go and instantly discovered her passion for stuffing our feathered friends in an artistic and original way.
Holly’s birds are placed on old vintage clocks, tea cups, looking in mirrors, stood on leather suitcases and so on. Her fresh young approach some how makes something which often is thought of as dusty and outdated, to something high end, fashionable and cool. Her Taxidermy work focuses on this idea of regeneration – using old vintage objects, she brings a new meaning and way of looking at them – which sits side-by-side to the idea that Taxidermy breathes new life into the deceased forms.
Holly recently acquired a flamingo we would love to get our hands on! We hope this girl goes far, she has creative talent in abundance!
