Originally hailing from South East London, five piece Thidius are bringing their soulful persuasion to Brighton just in time for the summer. After Crowd Funding their debut EP Guilty and breaking the South London music scene, Thidius are now emerging onto the Brighton musical landscape with a brand new EP Inversions, set for release this spring.
Fronted by siblings Izzy and George Risk, Thidius have already laid strong foundations to spring from. Their first record Rush You not only garnered the attention of prestigious publications NME and Time Out, it also landed them on a European tour with King Krule (highly recommend a listen if you’re yet to). Thidius have since focused their writing on a progressive bridge between Jazz, pop, electronic and rock, crystallising their sound with a line up including; Tom Dreissler (Yussef Kamaal), and Ben Hayes & Harry Pope (World Service Project).
While gigging extensively to solidify their ever growing following, Thidius have been producing Inversions with plans for a heavy touring schedule in support of their upcoming EP and further releases throughout the year. Mention Nothing, the first single from from the forthcoming EP, enticingly demonstrates what this band have to offer. Izzy’s sweetly soulful vocals enchantingly swim over over a subtly punchy and jazz infused percussion blending into an understatedly funky bass line, with Fender Rhodes and guitar tones perfectly grooving the melody together. The video – directed by Michael & Paraic Morrissey (Jerkcurb, King Krule, LL Burns, Filthy Boy) – is a tantalising kaleidoscopic vision of what this soulful five piece have to offer. If your musical ear needs an itch, look no further.
